It was my birthday yesterday. I went home and found my wife had made me 24 (I turned 24) cupcakes. Let me just say that it is awesome that she took the time out to make two dozen cupcakes for my birthday. I loved it! That was great surprise number 1.

So I have a cupcake and then get ready for dinner. We were just about to get started eating when my phone rings. It was Aria, a good friend of mine. She was at the Rev3 focus group. Before you ask, no I don't know anything about what happened at the focus group except for what follows.

"Do you have a Mac?" she asks urgently.
"No, just PCs. Why?" I respond.
"Crap. Okay, let me give you a call back."

I wait for a few minutes, wondering WTF was going on. My phone rings again. It is a 416 number. I live in 805. I answer.

"This is Cody."
"Is this Cody?" a voice asks over a speaker phone.
"Yes, it is."
"Cody, this is Jay Adelson."
After a moment of joyous surprise, I say "Hi, Jay!"
"I understand it is your birthday today. Is that right?"
"That's correct."
"Well, us here at Revision3 and Digg just wanted to call and wish you a happy birthday!"

The next 10 minutes were spent chatting with Jay, Prager, Hahn Choi, and several other members of the Digg and Rev3 teams. (I apologize if I spelled anyone's name wrong, but I think I got them.)

So yeah, that was how I ended my night last night. Not a bad way to end your birthday I would have to say.

It is refreshing to see the CEO (along with several employees) of a companies like Digg and Revision3 can take the time out and give a fan a quick call on his birthday.
